I’ve spent the last few days getting parts I had already cleaned up and ready to install. A few of the new parts have started to show up as well, and I have nearly everything now.
First thing that went into the car were the Weathertech floor mats – they hold up, and do a great job keeping all the stuff that sticks to your shoes from grinding into the carpet. I’ve also been working on an updated head-unit, since my phone and the factory unit don’t get along at all. It’s giving me some trouble, but I’ll have to defer that project for a bit I think. The weather is starting to get into a range comfortable for working with large masses of steel, and things will be off to a start before I know it.
First up, brakes. There’s nothing wrong with the factory setup, but this is 20lbs of weight savings over the standard brakes, and even more over the Brembo setup that comes with the Performance Pack (I ended up with this because it is what was available – it’ll make for a nice setup down the road if I stop caring about weight. but for now…) This is the tried and true AP Sprint setup put together by Essex
Next up, coilovers. These are RaceComp Engineering T3‘s with Raceseng tops/cascam plates and Whiteline endlinks.
And finally, my new header arrived a few days ago. Almost too pretty to install!
There are so many other parts ready: suspension bushings/inserts, rear lower control arms (to be able to set camber properly), front and rear swaybars, intake, and full header-back exhaust are all on the “before things start” list so I can get the car tuned, broken in, aligned, and corner balanced. Plenty of less important bits to go in too, mostly convenience related (like hood struts!) but a couple that are performance-ish (like lightweight battery and short-shifter).
