C D'Alessio/ March 4, 2018/ Build and Modifications

There is nothing like early March in Chicago for installing parts, working on a cold concrete floor with steel parts – it’s great at sucking all the heat out of you. This is the start.

I’m fortunate that I do not need the car during the week – I can leave it up and work a little here and there, which is exactly what I’ve been doing. The down side is that there is barely room on the passenger side for me to move around – just enough. Otherwise it would be too difficult to get the other car in/out from the alley.

Progress:

Rear brakes swapped (-2lb going back to the standard brakes from the Performance Pack Brembos)
Rear swaybar swapped (to Mann 13mm)
Rear coilovers installed (+2lb …)
Rear subframe inserts
Diff carrier inserts
Front coilovers (I forgot to weigh these, but they’re probably a little heavier than stock)
Grimmspeed pulley cover / tool tray. It’s worth it for the tool tray.

In progress: head unit. Lots of wiring woes, I have yet another set of wires to try. No one seems to have correct info for the 2017+ BRZ yet.

I found I was missing a couple parts to install the AP Sprint up front, so that’s on hold. The weight savings here should be substantial, which is the primary reason I swapped to stock in the back – it’s the setup Essex was able to say worked properly, so it’s the setup I’ll use. Bonus being a touch ligher, to offset the coilover weight.

Lots to do still before the season starts in only a handful of weeks.
